WikiBone:About:Contributor Roles

|
Everyone is welcome to create an account and contribute to WikiBone. There is a wide variety of tasks associated with building and maintaining a large wiki. The WikiBone project classifies contributors according to the roles they play, which in turn are defined by the tasks they perform.
A core group of contributors is known as the project team. Members of the project team are recognized as certified contributors and serve on a regular basis in various of the roles described below. Certified contributors are primarily responsible for reviewing contributed articles, bringing them into conformance with WikiBone guidelines, and serving as the custodians of articles they have reviewed. As the need arises and qualified candidates become apparent, general contributors may be invited to join the project team as certified contributors.

Casual Contributors
A casual contributor is someone who occasionally adds a bit of information to an existing page, or perhaps corrects an error. These capabilities are available to all registered users by clicking on the Edit this page tab on any page. WikiBone maintains a comprehensive change log, so casual contributors needn't be afraid of "breaking" anything; the WikiBone editors monitor all changes and can, in a pinch, restore an earlier version of any page. Casual contributors should have at least a passing familiarity with Wikitext, the text mark-up language used to format WikiBone pages.

Copy Editors
Copy editors strive to maintain a consistent look, feel, and voice throughout the wiki. Copy editors monitor new pages and changes to existing pages and, when necessary, edit them to ensure that they conform to the WikiBone quality and style guidelines. A copy editor's job is essentially to make sure that pages are clearly and concisely written, and that they observe commonly accepted standards for grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Copy editors must have an intimate knowledge of Wikitext, the text mark-up language used to format WikiBone pages.
Enforcing standards is a difficult and sometimes thankless task. Nevertheless the WikiBone team believes very strongly that the success of the WikiBone project depends to a large extent on their ability to maintain the highest standards for the use of language. Detail oriented individuals with excellent writing (and re-writing) skills are always welcome as copy editors.
